Frequently Asked Questions

Where to get Catchline?

You can install it directly from Google Web Store, or download the extension package and install it yourself.

What problem does Catchline try to solve?

When we chat with AI or browse forums, we often come across brilliant ideas, inspiring stories, or insights that could change our lives.

But we can't memorize everything, and manually saving the context is simply too much to manage in today's fast-paced world.

Catchline to the rescue — it lets us capture key moments on the spot, then get back to them anytime with just one click.

Catchline also creates outlines and extracts topics and keywords from the current sources. All these features serve one goal: help us recall the valuable information we've read as quickly as possible.

How to use Catchline?

When you visit a supported webpage, Catchline's popup will appear automatically and you're good to go. If the popup doesn't appear, click the Catchline icon in your browser toolbar.

Note: Catchline only works on supported websites. On unsupported sites, nothing will happen when you click the extension icon.

Is Catchline free?

Yes, Catchline is free to use.

After a period of uninterrupted usage, you may occasionally see a payment prompt. You can simply dismiss this prompt and continue using Catchline at no cost. The prompt will reappear after several uses, but you are always free to close it and keep using the service. This way, Catchline remains free for all users, indefinitely.

If you wish to remove the prompt permanently, you may choose to purchase a subscription (e.g., 1 year).

What's the difference between paid and free users?

  • Free users will occasionally encounter purchase prompts, while paid users won't. Other than that, there's no difference in usage.
  • Free users may lose their data if they reinstall their system or experience a browser crash. Paid users won't face this issue. This is because paid users' data is stored in the cloud, and when such events occur, we can restore their content based on their payment identity information (such as email address). In other words, we know which data belongs to whom. For free users, since we don't have their identity information, we cannot restore their data in such cases.

What makes Catchline different?

Catchline helps you quickly grasp key points from long conversations and forum threads, making it easier to recall what you've read.

Does Catchline work on all websites?

No. Catchline only supports popular chat and forum websites, including:

We're continuously adding support for more sites.

How do I report a bug?

Use the feedback form below to report any issues. Please include the website URL and a description of what went wrong.

Is my data private?

We respect your privacy. Catchline sends page content to our servers for AI-powered summarization. The generated insights (outlines, topics, keywords) and page URLs are cached on our servers to improve performance and avoid redundant processing. However, we do not collect or store any personal information, login credentials, or private messages. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.

How to install the extension I just downloaded?

  1. Unzip the downloaded file to a folder(e.g., /temp/catchline) on your computer.
  2. Open Google Chrome and go to chrome://extensions.
  3. Enable "Developer mode" (toggle in the top right corner).
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the folder where you unzipped the extension.
  5. The extension will appear in your browser and is ready to use.

Note:

  • For unpaid (anonymous) users, do not change the unpacked folder path when reinstalling or updating the extension. Always keep the unpacked path the same; otherwise, your data will be lost. This is because the extension ID is tied to the folder path. If you move or rename the folder, the extension ID will change, and any data associated with the previous ID will be lost.
  • Paid users can reclaim their data using their email address after the extension ID changes. However, we highly recommend keeping the unpacked package in the same path across multiple installations to avoid inconvenience.
